Darsonval Cheese Review

Here's an interesting cheese. Wisconsin cheese producer Montchevre has a washed rind, semi-soft, goat milk cheese. How odd. Goat cheese is everywhere in the U.S., but washed rind cheese isn't.

It had the distinct funky smell I typically associate with washed rind cheeses, but very mild in this case. Certainly not unpleasant. The cheese itself reminded me quite a bit of a common jack cheese, but the tangy goat cheese flavor also came through. Sweet, tangy, cheesy.

I would classify this as a very interesting cheese. Well worth trying. But it's not something I'd buy again. Much like Oka, which it's a bit similar to, this just isn't my sort of cheese. And while all the parts come together wonderfully, it's still a bit too mild to seek out. Just my opinion.
